OPENLY DECLARING JESUS

 

TEXT: John 12 vs 42-43

Even then, many Jewish authorities believed in Jesus; but because of the Pharisees they did not talk about it openly, so as not to be expelled from the synagogue. ⁴³ They loved human approval rather than the approval of God.

 Like the Jewish authorities, some people believe in Jesus but cannot openly declare it because of fear of one thing or the other. They don't want to lose maybe their reputations, friends or even positions which they would if they openly declare Jesus. These people love human approval rather than God's approval. 

If we are serving God, then we should be courageous to declare it openly to the world. We can't hold firmly to the things of this world and claim to love God. Following Christ means that we must be ready to let go of our friends, families, reputations and the things of the world (Luke 14:26)
