VESSEL UNTO HONOR
TEXT: 2 Timothy 2 vs 20-23
20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. 21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.
We tend to have lots of desires when young. Some of the desires are good but others are not. They are evil desires. For example, a young guy might spend hours imagining how he could lure his girlfriend into having sex with him. While sex is a good thing (it comes from God and not the devil), having it before marriage is absolutely forbidden by God.
Other evil deeds includes; gambling, watching pornography, lusting etc. Of all this evil things, we are advised to flee.
As young people, we should pursue righteousness, love, faith, peace, honesty, holiness and every other godly character. We should be among those who call out to God with a pure heart.
So many youths of this age waste precious amount of time in foolish and stupid arguments that adds no value to them. These things only ruins us and brings about quarrels. Time spent in argument can rather be put into something more valuable (like reading a book, studying the bible, praying or even sharing God's word).
There are too many ordinary and common youth out there. I encourage you not to be among them. You are more than the kind of life you are living. God has a better purpose for your life. He is standing at the door of your heart knocking (Revelation 3:20). The best decision you can take is to allow Him in. He alone can give meaning to your life.
Choose to make yourself a vessel to be used by God for good works. That is the reason for which He created you (Ephesians 2:10). Choose to be different from the ordinary. Choose to be a vessel for special purposes. Choose to live a life of holiness and consecration unto God our creator.
