POWER TO LOVE

TEXT: Matthew 10 vs 1
The prayer was no sooner prayed than it was answered. Jesus called twelve of his followers and sent them into the ripe fields. He gave them power to kick out the evil spirits and to tenderly care for the bruised and hurt lives.

Jesus power to the disciples was not meant only for casting out demons and evil spirits. The power He gave them was also meant for loving and caring for the bruised and hurt ones.

On our own, we can't love our neighbors as ourselves as God has commanded us to (see Mark 12:31). It is only by the power of God (i.e the Holy Spirit) working in our lives can we achieve this.

As believers, we have the Holy Spirit at work in us. He helps us do the will of God (Philippians 2:13). Let's emulate Jesus Christ by showing love to others. Our love is not meant for our family members alone. It is not meant for only those that are good to us. We must learn to love even those who hurts us and cause us pain (Luke 6:27-28). Remember, we hurt God with our sins, yet, He loved us and sent His only begotten son to come die for us.

Most of us focus our prayers to God for powers in doing miracles and casting out devils.  Let's also learn to ask God to help us love others (even those that are difficult to love) as He loves us.
